Iran’s electricity exchange hits 1.4bn MW

TEHRAN, Jul. 23 (MNA) – Witnessing a 4 percent increase in electricity generation in power plants, the country’s power exchange with its neighbors marks 1.43 billion Megawatts.

Power generation in thermal power plants of the country in 17th week of the Iranian calendar (beginning on March 21) increased by more than 4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Energy Ministry has reported that over 97,377 Giga watt Hour electricity has so far been generated in current year which marked a 2.88 percent rise compared to the same period in 2014.

Meanwhile, the report shows that 92,155 Giga Watt/Hour of this is generated by thermal power plants and 5,222 Giga Watt Hour has been the share of hydro power plants. The figures indicate a 4.08 percent rise in thermal power plants and 14.45 decline in hydro power plants.

Iran’s import of electricity during this time frame has been more than 1,438 Giga Watt Hour with 17.16 percent increase compared to the figures of last year.
